Catalyst 3.8's

So the Catalyst 3.8's come out on 8 October 2003 right? Anyone know what the "big improvement" will be with them? Any theories on it? I was just wondering...I haven't heard much...but we did toss around the idea that smartshader 2.0 would be fully 'enabled' as it isn't right now and SS1.1 is only software emulated. Any thoughts?

LEAKED THE IDEA CALLED OVERDRIVE.....
you should be able to overclock without requiring 3rd part overclocking......
What this means as far as performance is anyone's guess.

OVERDRIVE will first debut with CATALYST 3.8, which is currently scheduled to be released on October 8th, a future CATALYST release will also include adjustable memory frequencies. OVERDRIVE is only available on XT cards, so RADEON 9800 and RADEON 9600 users won’t have this feature.

If I glanced at a spilt box of tooth picks on the floor, could I tell you how many are in the pile. Not a chance, But then again I don't have to buy my underware at Kmart.

I've also seen an interview with an Ati developer that hinted that the 3.8's would allow you to set specific image quality settings per game (i.e. Antialiassing, ansio, etc).

That'd be cool.
