Catalyst 3.9 drivers are out @ ATI

Go get 'em!

<A HREF="http://ati.com/support/driver.html" target="_new">http://ati.com/support/driver.html</A>

Enjoy!

I will be back later with a quick run down if there is anything I 'notice'.

I am at home today (fle-time) so I will install them ASAFP.

Any performance increases Ape?

Before the 3.8's were released, the word on the street was that 3.8 was to be a feature release, and 3.9 was to be a performance release.

But due to the lack of hype, I'm thinking the 3.9's are minor bug fixers and not much else...

------------------
Radeon 9500 (hardmodded to PRO, o/c to 322/322)
AMD AthlonXP 2400+ (o/c to 2600+ with 143 fsb)
3dMark03: 4055

Well I just got back from the Matrix (which was pretty good, but I won't say more until more people have had the chance to see it. I'll just say this, NICE Dress on Monica Belucci! WOW! ), and went to the dentist as well, so I've been a bit busy today .

I haven't checked the performance figures. HALO played smooth, but it played smooth before too. I didn't spend the time to check the 3.8 CAT benchmarks so I couldn't compare now. I might switch back on SAT. and then let you guys know. I'll run them at stock and at 500/350 (CasualCat's 'Standard'), and let you know on a few benchies.

I wouldn't expect much else, but really I don't feel I need more performance. Bug fixes are always good, but as I had no noticeable bugs with the last release I'm fine. I was a little Peeved at the OMEGA with their FastWrites issues, so I'm glad to see the actual 3.9s don't match the 3.8.5 Omegas in that respect.

Anywho I will let you know more once I have the time to do a thorough test (maybe start with the 3.7s on Sat., and work my way up [3.4s if I have time, since that was my posted 3Dmark scores with GW. so we have a reference point])

I'll see what we can try.

Benchmarks were exactly the same for me with the 3.9s vs. the 3.8s on my R9800NP.

I'm not installing these, I read to many things on rage3d about breaking opengl programs. Cat 3.7 still for me.
Seems that they keep fixing things and breaking things at the same time..

You must tear things down before you can rebuild them.

Yeah, if you're concerned, and don't use the shader effects, then I haven't seen much by way of compelling reasons (performance or otherwise) to switch. I'm gonna do my own CAT comparison (very generic) over the weekend.

As I don't play OGL games right now (one of the reasons I'm dissapointed that the Sketch effect is just for OGL) I would never encounter that problem on my gaming rig. Although after our previous discussion I'm going to download the COD demo tonight when I get home from work.

But considering that CatMaker has been able to reproduce the problem, there is likely going to be a fix fairly soon.

I downloaded them the day they came out. No performance increases, just bug fixes. A lot of people seem to be having trouble with COD, but I just played 2 straight hours on my 9600Pro. No Problems. Then again, these are probably the same people that said 3.8's blew up their monitor *shrug*

I dont know what to think of the monitor allegations.
I had many problems with the 3.8s myself though. I dont need the bug fixes though so I guess Im ok.

I didnt have a radeon in the 3.5/3.6(?) era but alot of people keep reverting to the 3.5s rather than the 3.7s which I stick with.
