Hey all,

I just finished building my new rig;

ASUS P4P800DX motherboard
256MB SAMSUNG DDR RAM (400Mhz)
iNtel PIV 2.6 Ghz, 800FSB
ATI RADEON 9600XT 128MB - retail

I am having a problem everytime I try and install the Catalyst software suite, it begins by installing the driver but fails everytime after reporting "INF not found" ... followed by another dialogue that reads "Video driver not found please try and reinstall after updating your video adapter driver to a generic VGA compatible driver."

I've tried everything including a manual installation of the driver via the MMC\Device Manager, but the operating system (WinXP Pro) won't "find" the driver on the CD.

I think the issue might be that my CD-rom drive is F:\ rather than the more common D:\. I'd love some input or related experiences on this because I have a great video card but the darned thing won't take!

A very exasperated,

Hurin

Try installing the Intel INF update, it's on your motherboard CD.

In case the solution to this issue has not yet been posted somewhere that I've missed here and for any of you that still have the ATI Card(s) you were trying to load Catalyst for; THE SOLUTION IS HERE!

After scouring this and many other sites with no post really offering THE fix. I stumbled into this AMD support page acknowledging the problem and explaining what the issue was (no apologies). It includes a link to beta version driver with the fix called:

14-4-win7-win8-win8.1-64-dd-ccc-whql

I still had all other MS and ATI graphic drivers uninstalled from following other suggestions. I had my Visiontek HD7750 card installed. I installed this driver. The installation looked pretty much the same but the Title page of the installer had a little different (red) picture. It took about 4 minutes to install but you know you're on the right track when the dreaded "install packet failure" message doesn't come up.

Hope this helps. Good luck!!
