Question Cause for slow application

When I run access db which is on another computer it runs slow. Even if I copy the the DB on my com the copying process becomes slow. What could be the reason for this?

How are the computers connected? What network hardware is in use? What type computers are in use (i7 desktops, or low power laptops, etc) ?
