Cause of ATI AiW TV Sound Distortion

My computer tower case was located right next to my monitor. The back end
of the tower case was right next to the front of the monitor. With this
setup, my ATI AiW TV sound usually had low volume and contained a buzzing
noise, which made it impossible to watch TV. Sometimes the TV sound would
work perfectly, most of the time there was too much interference.

I recently moved my computer tower case to the floor, far away from the
monitor. The TV sound problem disappeared and has not returned for over a
week now. Is it possible that the monitor somehow interfered with the ATI
AiW TV sound?

I guess so, especially if the tower case isn't steel or has Perspex in
it.
