Question Caution: Whiteboard app is trashing SSDs

In my case just opening the MS Whiteboard app causes almost 100% disk usage.
Using or just leaving the app idling causes an average disk write of 10MB/s.
I was using this app several hours per day for teaching in the pandemic. I was also leaving it opened.
That means I was writing almost 500GB per day, i.e. a full disk write per day!!! For such a simple app. Unbelievable!

Measure that usage by day or week. not by the second.

are you sure it is whiteboard doing it? you've verified with task manager?

i see a handful of similar posts elsewhere and seems like a common problem with the app. multiple times i have seen this suggested

Yes. Whiteboard app is the culprit! Please see image below showing an astonishing 26MB/s write, but it averages around 13MB/s, even in idle. I was using this app several hours per day (or just leaving it opened) while teaching. As I said before, this caused a full disk write (500GB) per day. Simply unacceptable!

it's a no brainer then to uninstall it and use something else. plenty of options out there
