I currently run a ASUS 4870 1GB in my system and it performs well enough to get me by. This was until I had to do a fresh install of XP. Since doing that I cannot update my cards drivers or CCC. When I download updated versions they don't work anymore. whenever I open CCC it shows the splash screen and then it crashes. Over and over again. To make matters even worse, once I update to the newer version I cant go back to the old version that came on my disc because those will now crash. I've uninstall, cleaned the registry, and tried a system restore, it doesn't help. The only way to get it to function again (using nearly 4 year old drivers) is to reinstall windows. I have contacted ASUS and they told me that they have never had this issue and offered no help other than telling me to redownload the drivers, which did nothing. PLEASE HELP!

Solution
Don't get what ? AMD is the official manufacture of the GPU, the Gigabyte, Asus, Sapphire or whatever is designing the board only...
AMD always has the latest drivers

I had problem with CCC when i installed latest drivers few weeks ago.
The problem was that driver installer could not delete old ati folder
C:\Program Files\ATI
C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies
the files wore locked by the windows and i was unable to delete them.
Thou i was able to rename them.
so
Uninstall Ati drivers
delete or rename the folders
install again
(delete renamed folders)

I was also able to delete ATI folders using Linux flash drive boot, like Ubuntu

No luck. followed the directions to the T. The old ATI Tech folders were deleted. Installed a fresh copy... Crashes on startup. And now I cant even use the version that came on my disc unless I reinstall windows. Any other thought?
