CD drive cannot read

My CD ROM cannot read. It started when I tried to play hundreds of MP3 at a time from a CD using the windows media player, the computer hanged for long time which made me decide to restart the computer using the restart button. Since then the CD drive cannot read any file anymore. Please give me an advice of what seems to be the problem and what is the better solution to it.

It may be just a case of having a loose cable. Try securing all the cables inside your computer (more specifically, your IDE cables). If that doesn't work, you can try that drive on a different position, or perhaps you might even have to change the cable.
