I recently purchased A Dell T5600 2 Xeon Processors and installed two Sandisk 540gb SSD drives and set them to Stripe raid. I then have a Samsung 850 Pro 256gb as my C drive. I have 32Gb of ram. This thing should rock right? I have a new PlextorPX-891SAF DVD CD burner. When I burn CD's or DVD the cache runs out and the written files seem to stop and go when the cache fills up making the burn take forever. I need to know what is going on here.. I have all the latest drivers on the PC. I am using NTI CD DVD MAKER Version 8.0 and have it on my old PC that works well. I was just wondering to that the T5600 runs a little sluggish as with stripping two SSD's it should be alot faster than my MSI desktop with an i3 processor running 16gb ram. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I purchased the PC to convert docs to PDF much faster as some docs were so large my i3 would take hours.

I am using NTI CD DVD Maker as I have been for many years.

I had a DVD 3.76Gb take 31min and on my other PC which has a Pioneer DVD burner takes less than 7min.

I meant what software are you using to convert the PDFs?

Adobe Acrobat?

UPDATE: Regarding burning speeds, the T5600 uses a slim 8x burner. The Plextor is a 24x burner. You should get roughly 3x the speed in the Plextor, and that's about what you're getting. This is normal for slim drives. Obviously you didn't intend to get a slower drive, so here's an option that would let you speed up your workflow:

NitroPDF as it does much better than Acrobat for what I use it for.

The Plextor shows it burning the DVD at 16x and CD's at 48x.. I am not even using the slim drive at all.

Sorry, it may be an older Plextor model.

When you say you aren't using the slim drive, what do you mean? Did you put a full size burner in the T5600?

Also, can you check the CPU utilization when running OCR in NitroPDF? I can't find any information on whether or not it scales with more cores.

Yes CPU utilization is less than 25%. I noticed the hd utilization is why high at first then after a minute it levels out at less than 15% the rest of the burn.. but I still get the stop and go burns on the disc.. Yes I placed the plextor in the large bay and its a new model.
