CD/DVD drive not reading discs

CD/DVD drive not reading any discs.For the past 20 days i am having this new problem.
If i click the DVD drive symbol,it says insert disc like there is no disc inside the CPU but there is..

The problem didn't get solved using Microsoft Fix it tool.I tried it before.

This is often caused by one of two things: a bad drive, or a bad filter driver. If we eliminate the second we should know which of the two it is.
To fix a bad filter driver, do the following:
1) open regedit.exe by typing "regedit" without quotes into the run box (accessed using windows key+r)
2) navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e965-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}.
3) in the panel to the right, you should see a few entries, one named "Class" Make sure class is set to CDROM to know that we are in the right area
4) If 3 is correct, look for another entry named "UpperFilters" or "LowerFilters" (both are possible). If there are any, delete them. Then restart your computer.

If this resolves the issue, then you are good to go. If not, then your issue is most likely a bad drive. It is possible it is something else, but in most cases it is not.

There is no way that it is a bad drive.Because the DVD drive is new.I burned Cds with this drive like 4 or 5 times
only.

"Class" is set to CDROM in -------------------- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e965-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}.

But there is no "UpperFilters" or "LowerFilters" seen.So nothing to delete.
Above "Class", there is an entry which says (Default) and in that same line under the heading Data,it is mentioned as (value not set).

The DVD drive icon is seen under ---- (Devices with removable storage) in My Computer. I don't remember if this was the way in Windows Xp which i had before.

DVD drive do show up in the device manager .Under properties in DVD drive ---- DVD Region shows as -----"Current Region: Not Selected". Do i have to select one ?
