Hello. I'm relatively new here and would appreciate your help regarding this.
My BIOS cannot recognize my CD/DVD drive, neither can Windows 7. It was all right until a few days ago.I just inserted a DVD , but when I couldn't see Autoplay, I checked explorer. And the drive was missing under Devices with removable storage.
I searched on Microsoft's site and there was a similar problem, here you go: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/982116

I did the last one, but still to no avail. Can anyone help me?
I have an Asus P5RD2-VM mobo. Quite old.
And yes, in device manager also it is not listed. There is an unknown device with the error:

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.

Solution
Uninstall the device in device manager and re-boot. If that doesn't fix it, it is time for a new drive. You could try a different cable, power connector or port if you have one available.
