CD & DVD Gone at same time

My Cd and DVD drive stopped working at the same time and my SMPS stopped working too. I replaced older smps with a new one but CD and DVD drivers didnt work. What will i do?

I haven't examined a recent DVD PCB, but it could be that an overvoltage has taken out a protection diode. If that's the case, then there may be a simple, no-cost DIY solution.

HDDs have 12V and 5V TVS diodes which go short circuit when the drive experiences a sustained overvoltage.

If you could supply a photo of the component side of your DVD/CD PCBs, I may be able to identify the component for you, assuming it exists.

CD/dvd drives cost about $20 so it might be better just to get a new one.

You can get a new one and be better off depending how old the one you have is.
