Hi:

One day to the next my CD-ROM drive icon is missing. Running Win XP home
edition. Went to Regedit and deleted value data for LowerFilters; there is no
Key for UpperFilter. Rebooted and same issue. Any ideas?

Thanks.

See "How to Restore the Operating System to a Previous State in
Windows XP" (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=306084).

Have you added any hardware recently? Your power supply may not be up to
it.

Hey There,

I have had a similar problem and this worked for me:

http://aumha.org/win5/a/xpcd.htm

Under section 8 - Problems - there is a link to a patch that often resolves
this problem

Good luck,
