Has anyone else noticed that Windows 2000 support for CD Rom drives and CDRW's isn't very good ...???

I have had more problems with them in 2000 and they work fine in 98 and Millennium. Has anyone else had any problemms?

Nope :::

AMD Athlon 1.0GHz
MSI K7T-Turbo (latest BIOS release)
512MB PC100 RAM
GeForce2 MX 32MB Video
Plextor 16x10x40
Creative 52X

The problems I have been having is mainly with Ez CD Creator 5 Platinum. I moved to Nero v.5.5 last night hoping it will take care of some problems. I just seem to get poor performance out of both of them. I have so many bad events under performance for the CD Rom drive in paticular. I rebooted after uninstalling EZCD and had exclamtions on my CD Rom drives so I uninstalled them and rebooted to reinstall the drive and everything is fine *knock on wood*.

It's just that I had a problem like this on a prior install of 2k and wasn't sure if the drivers just weren't any good for supporting the drives ...

Thanks for your input! I appreciate it!

I have seen quite a few probs with EZ CD Creator. In version 4.0 (not 4.01+) if you rebooted w2k after the install without patching first you would have to reload the OS to fix it. EZ CD 5 had some incompatibilities with zip drives of all things. If you haven't permanently moved to Nero you might check out the Roxio knowledge base.

Yeah I checked the FAQ and tried everything they listed and didn't help. I had all the updates and it made it worse!

Oh well. As long as it's EZCD and not 2000 that's good ...
