CD tray keeps jumping out.

Hello,
The CD player tray keeps jumping out all the time, with or without a cd in it, its the same.Closing the CD tray it comes out again after 3 seconds.
What can the proble be????

To me it sounds like that the CD tray is on the way out. New one needed maybe.

if you are on a laptop, it is usually really easy to do that as the stupid laptop manufs have made a choice of really cheap trigger mech for the drive...

and you can't easily swap one out in most cases...

As I was about to reinstall Windows XP on my desktop and the tray keeps jumping out, i am wondering if i could reinstall windows via a memory stik.wil it take the stik by booting up during the installation?

u need usb flash drive and a usb bootable mobo / bios to do it

and what is going on with these responses clever_noob? A virus is highly unlikely to cause something like this, if it's system slow down or malicious uses of your computer then maybe, and you can definitely install xp with a flash drive...
