CD won't play

Why won't the Media Player on my laptop play a certain CD? It is brand new; - it plays on my Cd player, on my DVD player, and on a friend's computer.
It doesn't make sense and is very frustrating.

Does your laptop recognize the CD and try to play it? Or does it not even see the CD?
What OS does your laptop have? What is the name of the CD?

Not all CDs play in all CD players/drives; that is just the hard truth. And some CDs have copy protection which can cause problems on some PCs.

Will other music CD's play on your laptop? Where did the CD come from, is it a retail CD or one you or your friend made yourself?

I don't think it recognizes it - the media player doesn't open.
The OS is Vista. The CD is the sound track from 'Rio'....came in the Blu Ray package.

Open up My Computer and try to look at the files on the CD to make sure. If you can see files, then your PC does recognize it and there is some other problem.
