my cd/dvd burner or player is missing. Windows says to update motherboard, but I can't do that without being able to create a bootable cd. How do I get my cd drive back?

Right click My Computer > Manage > Disk Management

If CD doesn't show, insert CD.

Highlight Cd

Click Action > All Tasks

Assign Drive Letter.

Reboot & see if still there.
