CDRW broke?

My LG CDRW goes through the burning process fine without
producing any errors, but the disks it creates are duds,
totally unreadable.

I've tried Nero, CDRwin, and Adaptec Easy CD. All burn
no probs, but never are they readable afterwards (in any
machine).

I've noticed that by lowering the speed to 1X I can get
a successfull disk.

Any ideas? Sound hardware realted?

Sounds like an under powered laser. I have had my share of problems with a usb hp drive. Will it write a cdrw at 4/2/1? How about a cdr? Are you using el-cheapo cdr/w disks?
