I have not been able to find the Halls of Pain. Where the aces are they?
I thought they were just under the Arreat Summit, but I've been all over
and in several days time, I'm getting frustrated. I don't expect there's
much there, but I won't be happy until I've hit the WP.

TIA

Probably, but I didn't find that one either. I seem to have skipped
right over something. I'm currently in WSK2 getting my a** beat by
those vomiting buggers.

Have you found and rescued Anya yet? After you rescue her from the
frozen river, then talk to her, she will open the red portal.

The portal from Anya might be in a different spot in CE.

Yes, I rescued Anya quite some time ago. Next to her is a blue portal
that goes to Nilathaks Temple. I never found the red portal.

Ok in CE it is a blue portal. If I remember correctly, after you kill
pendleskin, you go through the door behind him...dosen't it take you the
halls of anguish? then somewhere in there there is a doorway to the
halls of pain. I think this is how I got there. I know I have killed
nilatack<sp?> But then again, I could be waaay of base here. After I
play an area I tend to forget the details about it! LOL

I'll have to do some more looking around. So far I haven't found it.
And, the town of Harragath isn't all that big, so you'd think I'd see
it, sheesh.

^Yeah I know. Tell me about it!! I have no recollection whatsoever of
seeing a door behind Pendleskin or the Halls of Anguish. So, I'm going
to try to go back there and see if I can find what you're describing. I
hate this getting old thing. My brain has turned to mush. I'm lucky I
remember to wake up in the morning, sheesh.

I think I heard that somewhere before, but I can't remember where.
Anyhow, I did find Pindleskin and the Halls of Anguish and it refreshed
my memory. I completely remember why I never finished this part of Act
V. IT'S TERRIBLY HARD, that's why. Those snot-nosed vomitting spitting
buggers are very hard to get by. I played a while ago (prior to my nap,
b/c they tired me out so much) and I have to keep TPing to Stoney Field
to resurrect my skellies, mages and golems. I tried my blood golem and
he dies, as does the clay golem. These buggers are TOUGH!!! So, that
would explain why I never found the Halls of Pain. I gave up trying to
get past these guys. This time I'm going to continue trying. I've been
casting confuse and decrepify on them and that helps, but they can kill
faster than I can cast it seems, and my skellies aren't standing a
chance against them. But, so long as I don't lose my merc, although
gold isn't really a problem in this mod anyway, but I'll just keep TPing
and resurrecting and on an on until those awful critters are gone.

The only way I was able to do it was playing a tcp/ip game with my
daughter. She was using a skellymancer with a full compliment of
skellys, mages and a golem of some kind, with her merc...and I was using
a sorc with fo/fb. it was still hard, but at least if one of us died
the other was there to send a tp so we did not have to walk so far to
get back! LOL

CE, dispite Blizzard's endless attempts to nerf it, is still the single
most powerful skill in the game.

And, if you activate the WP in the Halls of Pain (or Anguish? - 2nd level
down) Anya's portal will disappear, but there is another shortcut to
Pindleskin - Nihlothek's house's door. That is for mfing later. As well
as the new dungeon level that opens when you kill Nihlothek.

I dont know how I could have missed that! I would have to kill thew big
N again to get there now, right? Is it worth the time it takes?

You may want to wait awhile, they are pretty tough down there. I went
down when I first killed big N and did not finish the first level, they
were killing my minions pretty quick so I left and haven't gone back yet.
I figure when I am about level 70-75 I will go back to normal and try
there, the 7 level, and also look for the clone again.

I'm in the dungeon right now. Is there a value in being down there? Is
there a special drop or something?

Ah, so the dungeon is actually the 7 level. OK, I'm at clvl49 now so
perhaps I'm premature being there at this point, but I haven't killed
Baal yet to the best of my knowledge. Do you kill them in the dungeon,
or have I left something out again? I'm looking to move on to NM.

Yes,a that's true, but sometimes it's like burning all your bridges when
you're looking to resurrect skellies and mages, unless you don't mind
TPing back to Act I on a consistent basis. I found DV to be much more
valuable in the Halls of Pain/Vaught.

Um... no, the 7 level is another area completely, AFAIK the only way to
the 7 level is the shortcut in Harrogath.
Baal is after the World Stone Keep, after 3 levels of that there is the
throne room and then the final area with Baal and the worldstone itself.
You do not need to do the dungeon or the 7 level to 'complete' normal,
just Baal himself.

Ah, the brain isn't working once again. Yes, I recall I was in the WSK
level 2 when I realized that I hadn't completed the Halls of Pain. God,
I hate getting old. I have absolutely no memory. What in the world
would I do without you Art, to remind me where I am, ROFLOL. Imagine
the mess I'll be in when I move to CA. Cripes, I can't keep track of
where I am now, oh bother, it's just too much to take in, HAHAHAHAHAHA.
