Ceiling Fan tip (yes, I said CEILING Fan)

I noticed something quite by accident today. By switching my ceiling fan rotation in the office (drawing air up instead of pushing down), my CPU temps went down 1 degree C, consistantly. Not a reason for celebration, but an interesting discovery nonetheless.

This isn't really an answer, but I'd like to say somethign about switching directions of ceiling fans

It's cool, but if you haven't dusted the tops of the blades for a while it's going to rain dust clumps

It's all good ^_^

Heat rises. By having your ceiling fan push air down you are pushing hot air down to your level. By having it pull up you are pulling colder air up from floor level.

interesting yes.
Sucking warm air away, possibly aiding your casetemp.

On cold days when im not using the computer i leave the window open and shut the door on the room. can get quite cool in there :)

I know what you mean. In my dorm room, I've got my computer right by a wall of windows. The concrete-ish floor gets damn cold, and of course so does the computer

It's all good ^_^

I tried this out today, my case temps went down only when I had the fan on forward (pushing air down).

So I guess it varies in different rooms.
