I bought one of the early PresHots which idled at 50 C and went to 70 C under load. I sold that setup to a friend who loves it, and now found a deal on a CeleronD 335.

I have it clocked to 3.4 GHz. on the stock 1.3 volts and it idles at 37 and goes to only 53 under 100% load... Much cooler! I've used Intel's boxed coolers in both cases which look to be very capable, but still that's a big improvement. Same motherboard in both cases (different part, but same model)

Think Intel is getting a handle on the "leakage" or have they just recalibrated their thermal diodes? Think the larger cache was generating all that heat?

Except 4x cache, Prescott P4s also have HT

Hmm, cache does produce heat!
