I want to buy a new router/modem for DSL service with CenturyLink. Should I buy a separate modem and router or buy a combo modem/router? Do you have a suggestion on what brand/model I should bye?

Solution
A separate modem and router. That way if you change ISP providers you can reuse your router.

Here is CenturyLink's approved modem list --https://www.centurylink.com/home/help/internet/modems-and-routers/what-modems-are-compatible-with-centurylink.html use the table with the type of service you have to select a modem.
