CF HD 5850. my mobo good enough?

Hello all,

I plan on buying another HD5850 to crossfire for my system*. However i realize my motherboard has 2 x PCI-E 2.0 x16 slots (@x16 or @x8, x8) not @x16 x2.

I dont know much about "lanes", but how much will this affect my performance increase should i get another card?


* i5-750
4 gb ram.

You shouldn't notice much of a difference (less than 5% decrease in performance) running the cards at 8x, 8x compared to 16x, 16x.

Just on another note, what PSU are you using, and what resolution are you gaming at?

Lol, not even x4 takes a performance hit. For we've not discovered the full power for pci 2.0.
