Dear Forumers,
I am planning purchase a computer for CGI purposes.
I have some questions:
1. I want to run large, complicated dynamic simulations, so I have chosen the fastest 8 core Xeon processor. Is this wise? I also chose the fastest RAM. This is best for that right?
2. A graphics card is mostly pointless for CGI work, because all rendering and simulations use the processors in the CPU not the graphics card? (also SSDs improve rendering alot?)
3. When compositing it is best to have source images on one SSD drive and the output on another? So I have a few SSD drives. This also makes sense right?
Thanks for any pointers you may give,
Nick.
