1. Oh Dear God why have I loaded this up instead of FM?!??!?
Ok serious impressions:
1. They made those Eidos and BGMS (?) intro screens really bright.
2. Oh look a loading screen after a minute or so with a black screen -
telling me that the demo I have is better than the retail product.
3. Skins - were they going for a look that makes CM3 look fancy? - It just
looks so flat and dull compared to CM4/ FM and even CM3.
4. Options screen hmmm not many options - promptly changes to the black
plastic skin and 1-20 stats.
5. Attempt to select leagues, looks like there are less than FM - no
Conference North/South, nor US league, but Japan is there. Tries to select
leagues half of them wont select - not good.
6. Picks to run england and manage Man Utd.
7. Loading time very fast 33secs to load up all English leagues, checks Task
Manager and it appears CM5 is using more resources than FM - 100% CPU always
and 180megs of RAM.
8. Navigation - not easy, not helped by no keyboard shortcuts, arrow keys
don't work in messages (lets hope I don't have the FM situation of having to
read several hunded dont want player messages. Menu screens split all over
the place doesn't help either.
9. Season expections - apparently I'm favs for the title but no mention of
odds or details on other teams - poor. Fans are happy I'm at the club plus
have £30m to spent - which is wrong. Supporters want succes in Europe - the
first plus thing I've found (speed doesn't matter to me). Board requests
exactly the same.
Player Profile screens - looks ok nothing new or special - like the seperate
personalities - career, media and finacinal. History page I don't like - no
history stats before CM5 or achivments page - looks like they haven't been
bothered to do any research (might be why it runs faster - doesn't actually
have any stats or info to start with).
National team screen - apparently Englands home ground is Old Trafford, it
also appears that there is no easy way out of the club history screens (have
the same stats as FM)
Looking at several league and club screens there is no history in the entire
game, it really shows the lack of effort put into it, FM list top scorer,
apperances and league positions for most teams. CM5 doesn't even have player
histories.
Tactics - feed ball option looks interesting, otherwise there's less than
FM.
Ok lets play a game, err how do we continue there is no continue button? hmm
looks like you have to click view results button which then turns to
continue.
OK lets buy people, hmm a few wanted signs on my players, clicking them just
takes me to the profile screen not the screen which tells me whos
interested.
Lets try offering someone a new contract - Gary Neville wants £75K a week!
plus a min. fee release clause of £4.8m!!
It also appears they are missing the required min. fee releases from Spain.
At least they are no grey players - teams are just empty instead.
Apparently Cavenaghi is Italian!!!!
Also there seems to be a limit of 31 loans in a season and no co-ownership
in Italy.
Press speculate that Rio is leaving Utd to either Real Madrid, Chelsea or
Bolton!!! Apparently Southampton and Bolton are also after Sol Campbell.
All right lets play a game, can not be bothered looking for a 12 person to
put on the bench - what does the computer do tell me it is automatically
picking a player thanks.
The match screen if possibly looks even worse the pitch and players just
look really awful. The slanted pitch looks a good idea. Sound effects are
very poor there's a clunking noise when I score and a quieter one whenever
the ball is kicked and what could be random tanoy talk. The worst thing is
there way of skipping boring parts of the match - they just speed through it
very fast, so you have no idea what is going on.
The AI looks a lot worse than FM - playing Tamworth in friendly - G.
Neville's cross bounces over/through their keeper, another there keeper
comes out to smith and carries on going past him, whilst he passes to Ruud
who puts it in an empty net, I've noticed players running away from the ball
to run back to where they are supposed to be on the pitch, players just
standing still.
It also appears the ref doesn't have a yellow card - 4 red cards in 2 games
(3 in the first half of the Ipswich friendly all for the same thing - player
went in hard, but got the man, sent off for proffesional foul - but looking
back at the match report its changed now says cynical foul?!?) The match
colours really don't look very good at all, feel rough and unfinished. Speed
settings are a bit weird - 60x takes about 5 secs to finish a match. The
game also wants to tell you the result of the game you have just played each
time you play a game, why?
First signing arrives - Casano on loan from Roma - didn't even know he was
there - just said Casano has agreed to your loan and then he was there.
I've also found that you can not respond to press speculation about your
players, there's no enquiry button, deadline on deals, no get all coach
reports, no offer to clubs.
Also appears to be no youth or team of the week awards, with the European
awards button sending you to the Conference awards.
