Everytime my pc boots up it checks media preference.
I think this is a problem with the boot order, so I tried changing my order in a UEFi but I don't see any c drive or ssd only "hard disk" "cd/dvd"
So how Do I boot in windows first?
How do u put the ssd first

Solution

Awesome, I'm glad it's sorted!

To be honest, the cables were a bit of a stab in the dark. It would have been easy for me to check myself and I would have run that check had I been experiencing the same issue, but to the untrained eye it was a little work!

Apologies for making you look in the wrong place. I would have swept the BIOS...
You download Piriform's Speccy here: https://www.ccleaner.com/speccy/download to check your motherboard model.

This is a slightly older BIOS, so it doesn't have the actual name of the device in the boot order as some newer ones do.
The current setting in 'Boot Option #1' [Hard Disk] is the correct setting for your SSD.

You could try a few things:

- If you also have a HDD in the system, make sure the SSD is connected to the lowest numbered SATA slot and the HDD follows afterwards. (Please give your mobo with Speccy so I can verify this is the correct information for you)
- Disable all other Boot Options other than 'Hard Drive'

Start with these and report back.

and i have hdd and ssd and how do i change the sata slots? do i just pull them out and switch them ?
and how do i disable all other boot options?

here is a better picture

It's a matter of identifying which SATA cable is where and swapping them accordingly with the PC off. The motherboard's SATA order starts from the Bottom-Left (If the motherboard is upright in your case this will theoretically be Bottom-Right instead. See here: http://prntscr.com/kyxsyr

Disabling the other boot options is done by selecting the rest of the boot options and selecting 'Disable' rather than an actually option. Eg: Press enter on Boot Option #2 and select 'Disable' or 'None'.

Well i wanna be extra carefull and know what i am pulling out and putting in so i wanted to know is this the sata parts u mean? : http://prntscr.com/kyy49a the red cables that are all grouped up?

Apologies for the late reply.

Open this picture: https://prnt.sc/l0ucx3

The two red circles at the bottom indicate the SATA cables in question (the 2 all-black cables), and the larger circle indicates where both cables connect to your motherboard.

Ignore my first picture with the numbers on your motherboard, this one is correct: https://prnt.sc/l1iqlw

Your SSD should connect to slot #0, and the HDD to slot #1 as indicated.

Ignore anything from previous posts and leave everything else as-is.

do i switch the ones on the drives or the ones on my motherboard because i don't know which one is slot 0 or 1

Apologies I've linked the wrong screenshot in the last post. Here you go: https://prnt.sc/l1iqlw

You'll need to follow the cables from the SSD and HDD individually to identify which is which, and where they're currently connected to.

mmh the cable management is special with this pc i really can't trace it back its all behind something where i can't really even come close should i just switch the cables at the motherboard ?

my savior are you there?

Is there no way to remove that other side panel so you can see behind it?

looks like its completely sealed

but i had this pc for over a year and it always booted first in ssd and now it boots in hdd, is it really the cables? or software?

I fixed it, it had nothing to do with the cables.
I digged in the BIOS (UEFI) and found an option called HARD DISK BBS PRIORITY and it was on "disabled" and i changed it to "windows boot manager"
and boom fixed.
still thanks to Budge414 for trying to help me.
mmh seems like i can't pick my answer as best solution
Budge414 can you just reply to this answer and i'll pick that reply as best solution

Apologies for making you look in the wrong place. I would have swept the BIOS too but again, explaining this would have been a process in itself!

Nice work on the fix.
