I play witcher 2 and generally i play games , my gpu is fine , but i see that my cpu is bottleneck my gpu for sure and a lot. I can play witcher 2 in High settings , but i play in low , cause of lag by cpu. I am thinking of change my cpu although my whole pc are 3 y old.
I want to hear some opinions , if it is worthing buying a new medium cpu to enjoy multitasking and games , without so strict limits , i am thinking about . Although i see my motherboard is kinda old (socket Am3) so i will have problems with the new Fx cpus from amd? . thank you.

This is a better build, George Fil. You...
You're actually botllenecking your GPU if you ask me, and yes FX CPUs require AM3+ socket, 6xxx and 8xxx series alike, so to be worth an upgrade you would have to buy another motherboard + CPU, your upgrade path is too short and not worth it in my opinion....how much budget do you have for this?

If you are a gamer, then yes, it is work the change.

That CPU wont give you the quality needed for your gaming, I suggest you upgrade it (And upgrade your motherboard too)

You have many options (AMD and Intel), but how much is your budget?

FX processors require an AM3+ motherboard. I would say you need a cpu, motherbaord and more ram.

If you can't just spend all that money (i am asuming you can't just throw it away all at once, like me) buy the motherboard and CPU he mentioned and wait for the RAM, i use 4Gb with a 6300 and it works quite good

I was hoping getting away with 100 euros on a cpu , but now i understand i need more. I like to upgrade my system piece by piece , so i would buy a new motherboard and cpu at once (budget 140-160 euros for both) , and then (when i will have more money ) i will buy new ram . but will my 3 year old power supplier support all this stuff , or its gonna burn them all after 2 months ?

Here is something fairly close to budget, that would pair up nicely with your GPU. You will not have to worry about PSU either, since the CPU is a very efficient one. I could go a bit cheaper on motherboard, but I wanted something with 4 ram slots.

did my research , thinking to buy cpu AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor (100 euro) and motherboard GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-S2 RETAIL (micro atx) (40 euro). or should i go to full sized atx.

If you are going with FX, I would go with this board combo at a minimum. FX is power hungry and it is best to have a board that has a heatsink for the VRM. Also, with this board, you can do some mild overclocking, if you get a decent aftermarket cooler. 3.9-4.0ghz is a safe clock speed to target. I am concerned with that PSU of yours though.

This is a better build, George Fil. You won't a better motherboard or PSU, and you will be on a better and not dead yet socket (LGA 1150) than the FX's AM3+ socket. You will save a considerable about of money on electricity and will get better performance than the FX in most areas besides HEAVY multitasking.

Good luck!
