Hi,
I have a stupid question for you. It is possible to change my current Intel Pentium 4 (Northwood) (bus 400 MHz) by Intel Pentium 4 (Willamette) bus 533.33 MHz). I do not know the chipset because it is a dell computer.
Could you help me ?

Thank in advance.

Zoltix please clarify.

It looks like he wants to replace "Old Processor" Williamette FSB 400 with:
"New Processor" Northwood FSB 533

To find chipset, download free program Belarc Advisor and run. It will identify system components. Or look up your chipset on Dell website (need Dell system model #)

XP 2000+
MSI KT3 ULTRA-2 KT333
Maxtor 60GB ATA 133 7200RPM
512MB PC2700
ABIT G4 Ti4200 OTES 64MB
Win98SE

erhmm...
Am I mistaken but wasn't the "Williamette" P4 the old ones?
Before P4A(400mhz), P4B(533Mhz)and P4C(800Mhz) also called "Northwood"'s ?
And the "Williamette" had only 256KB L2 cache against the "Northwood"'s 512KB L2 cache?

Don't pretend - BE!

Thank a lot but I would like to change my current processor by a better. Currently, I have a good opportunity for having an Intel Pentium 4 (Northwood) for 15$. But my current computer has Intel Pentium 4 (Willamette).

These processors are compatible? Can I permute the processor?
