Hi,

Soo.. I just disabled the RPC service.(call me stupid, i know. i didn't do some research before doing this) But now my pc doesn't boot properly anymore.
I.e. it shows a black screen when the login screen should appear.
I guess i have to revert the made changes by tweaking the registry from another pc.
I believe the responsible key is saved in system.dat, located in %windir%\system32\config\.

I almost know the procedure which has to be followed to achieve this, my question is:
do i just have to load the system.dat file, or do i have to add/change other components as well?
(e.g. backup versions from the file) And when i'm done, do i just have to replace the original system.dat by the reverted system.dat, or is there a special procedure for doing this? I'd rather not mess things up any further.
Thanks and greetings.

I think i can't access safe mode, at least not with much effort. Accessing bios, safe modes etc is a pain in the *ss in win8 machines.. At least in my case. But i suppose you would suggest booting in safe mode and then editing the registry, it's not a bad idea. But considering the nature of the cause of windows not booting properly, i fear the safe mode won't work either.
Thanks for your help.

Okay, so i fixed it, I thought it'd post it, maybe other ppl with same problem can benefit from this. Luckily it was indeed as simple as i thought. I have two laptops so i had to hook the ssd from the broken one via a SATA>USB cable to the working one. Loaded the registry-tree and reverted the value responsibe for rpc back from 4(disabled) to 2(automatic). Shove the ssd back into it's original place and booted up the machine. Everythings working again..
