Hello All,

I am having a DELL Inspiron 530 Desktop with DELL SE198WFP monitor. There are a few dead pixels on the sides of the monitor screen ............ So, was wondering - Is there a way to change the screen size virtually i.e. define the screen size in Windows to be used for display while excluding the Dead pixels on the sides. Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

Running - Windows 7 Ultimate - 64 bit
Monitor - DELL SE198WFP (Analog)

If there is any other information that I may have missed ....... just ask for it.

Regards,
Joojo.

Hi

Try looking in your display settings for a "Scale image to full panel size" or something like that and un-tick it :) That was when you lower your resolution, instead of it being stretched across the screen it will have black borders around it and display at the correct resolution. Also check your graphics card control panel if you dont see it there.

EDIT: You can change this through the Intel Graphics Control panel. Just look for the "Scaling" option

Thnxx a lot for your informative reply .......... greatly appreciate it.
anyhow i'm having Intel G31/G33 Express chipset but unfortunately I couldn't find the Intel Graphics Property panel with the specified option ........ Could you please guide me a bit more as to where I could find it. I tried attaching snapshots of my Intel graphics Panel .... but don't know how to do it .... it asks for a URL rather than browsing through my computer.

Thnxx a lot for your reply ......... but it seems you didn't understand the question properly. The dead pixels are already on the sides .......... all I need is to just decrease the screen size virtually.

Hi
If you have Nvidia drivers installed you should be able to access the Nvidia Control Panel by right clicking on the desktop and selecting the tab there. Just look under the "Display" header on the left for "Adjust desktop size and position". Here is a link just to show what the nvidia panel size & position GUI looks like.

If you are using intel graphics drivers right click on the desktop, click on "Display Settings" with an intel icon. Look for display settings header and under "Scaling" just customize your aspect ratio (so turn off "Maintain Display Scaling").

I think you can also change this by going into Control Panel > Appearance and Personalisation > Display > Screen Resolution. Change your resolution to whatever you want, then click on advanced settings. Navigate to the last tab of the window (Intel(R) HD Graphics Control Panel) and under scaling, select "Customize Aspect ratio" and just use the sliders.
