Change the temperature at which the fans turn on?

I just got a Gigabyte Windforce 1070. Excellent performance, good in-game temperatures and all that, but one thing that bothers me is that the fans do not kick in until the card reaches 50c. As a result, it's almost always at 48c - 50c at desktop.

I would prefer it if I could keep it around 40c at desktop. I downloaded MSI Afterburner but I am not familiar with how to use it. I see I can set fan speeds for certain temps, but did not see an option involving minimum temps for when the fans kick in. Is there a way to change this? Should I just use power saver in Nvidia Inspector?

Solution
The card would likely last longer with the fans off and a slightly higher temp. You can always repaste the card if you need to, but I doubt it will ever come to that. 50C is still quite low for a card, my 290 is idling at 50C right now with 30-40% fans.

Is there no adverse effect to keeping it at 50c? I don't know, I was thinking maybe higher desktop temps would result in the thermal paste drying out faster or something, I'd be more comfortable if it was cooler. I'm coming off a Windforce 970 that was typically sub-40 at desktop, but I suppose that also means the fans were spinning 24/7. I guess if there are no ill effects, then forget it.

Gigabyte cards usually starts their fans at around 50 C and stops again around 41-43 C. No need to change that, just enjoy a silent card while not under load.
But if your card is supported by the Gigabyte Xtreme gaming engine software you can do a custom fan profile from there.
