Hello, so basically I had a power surge and my PSU got burned. After changing it, my PC was lit up and everything was working except the picture on the monitor.
After that I bought part by part and kept switching it to see if it will work, but today arrived my latest hope the CPU and after switching it with all new parts it still wasnt giving picture to my monitor.
I tried all that I know...

  • Switching up RAMs
  • cleaning RAMs
  • taking out CMOS
  • checking up all cables connected to PSU
  • switched DPI cable and HDMI cable
  • tried plugging into motherboard with both DPI and HDMI (without GPU installed of course)
  • tried to connect to a TV and another monitor but still no signal
  • changed power outlets
  • bought anti surge outlet
Its as if I bought brand new PC parts and plugged them in and it still doesnt work.
I have no idea what could be the issue anymore so I ask you dear people to help me!

P.S. All fans are spinning, all RGB lights are on, everything is working normally as it did before except there's no picture or sound.

desperate...

Can you please parse your full system's specs? Since you tried swapping out parts, please mention the donor parts used to swap your platform. Include the age of the PSU f it's been in service for a while.

Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX Z690-A Gaming
GPU: ASUS ROG STRIX RTX 3080 12GB
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 4x8GB 3200mhz
CPU: Intel Core i7 12700K , 3600mhz
PSU: Corsair RM 850x , 850w (brand new) old one was the same model, but that one is done for.
CPU Cooler: Capellix H150 Elite
Monitor: Samsung Odyssey G7 32"

No donor parts, all has been ordered brand new. In the beginning I did switch out parts, but now that I acquired all new parts, its all new inside. Amazon has a great return policy so I ordered bunch of parts and if I find the problem I return it, but unfortunately now I will have to return all at once because none of these parts seem to be fixing the issue, except the PSU which fixed only part of the issue, because in the beginning the PC would turn on for 1 second and turn off immidieately, now its working, all fans are running, lights and all, but no signal on the monitor. Its so weird, I never experienced anything like this. I even called a guy who works 30 years with computers and he told me that he's out of ideas...the only thing he can think of is updating BIOS with the CPU, but how when I dont have access to picture?

These are identical to the original spec?

What's the drives? What is the boot drive?

What's the part no of the memory?

So the system is assembled brand new so you should be able to see a POST screen right out of the box without any drives connected?

Clear the CMOS via the jumper or taking out the coin battery and putting it back while the pc is off, plugged in to the wall and the power switch on the wall is off.

Obviously you should purchase a surge protector to avoid replicating the problem in future.

2x Samsung 980 Pro 1Tb, on one of them is Windows and 2nd one is just for games/programs.

They are fully identical to the old spec.

"What's the part no of the memory? " What do you mean by this?

here's a video of what I experience...i took it all out of my PC Case because I was thinking it might be something to do with the case, but no...

Clear the CMOS via the jumper or taking out the coin battery and putting it back while the pc is off, plugged in to the wall and the power switch on the wall is off. Press the power button a few times. while it's off to drain the power.

Sometimes it doesn't work the first time.

so just mobo, cpu and ram, gpu and psu. Cleared cmos, drained power and nothing worked.

Unplug the power cable make sure it's all turned off. drain the power by pressing the power switch or carefully shorting the power pins with that there screwdriver.

Check the CPU pins. Make sure GPU and Mem is fully seated. So just disassamble the whole thing and make sure it's re-assembled correctly.

If you have a beeper installed, does it beep anything? If the board has debug LEDs, does they show anything?
Go for minimal build: no GPU (if your CPU is 12700K and not 12700KF), just one stick of RAM (make sure to put in correct slot), no drives, no fans/hubs (except AIO), no USB devices (with no drive the system will go to BIOS anyway so keyboard is not needed). Make sure to use only PSU cables that came with new RMx as cables of old one can be faulty.

  1. CPU cooler is essential part. Never operate a pc without cpu cooler! Install it and just hope, you haven't fried your cpu because of this.
  2. Remove graphics card. Connect monitor to video output on motherboard.
  3. Have only single ram module installed.
Try turning on pc after this.

I've done it....doesnt work. I just called one more PC Specialist who lives near me and explained him the situation and he started laughing because as I was explaining him all the things I did to fix it, he said he would suggest me the same things and he apologizes and says that he doesnt have any solution...man...what the hell is going on? I have a 4k worth build that I can't run for some weird spiritual or who knows what reasons...this is insane.

You turned on the pc without the cooler attached. You reported it didn't work. They asked you to post the specs

Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX Z690-A Gaming
GPU: ASUS ROG STRIX RTX 3080 12GB
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 4x8GB 3200mhz
CPU: Intel Core i7 12700K , 3600mhz

CPU Cooler: Capellix H150 Elite
Monitor: Samsung Odyssey G7 32"

Does include a cooler

Then while I was typing you posted a video that shows the cooler wasn't attached. It didn't twig immediately because I was looking at the screwdriver.

Then you reassembled the PC after having powered it on without the cooler. Oops.

So now the CPU doesn't work. The motherboard doesn't seem to have any error leds

Well the CPU is a maybe because they should shut down if they get too hot but it's never advisable to let them overheat.

Now we don't know where we are without another cpu to try. So you don't have any spares about?

You tried it without the drives and it didn't even POST with or without the cooler.

So either the screwdriver shorted something (never use a screwdriver to short the power pins)

or the cpu overheated and died.

Which I contest must've happened before anyone realised there wasn't a cooler attached.

Where's the beeper? The motherboard should be emitting error codes? So the speaker is inside the case and not attached. You took the thing in and out of the case and assembled it and forgot the cooler. and shorted the power pins with a screwdriver.

This methodology is all wrong.

CPU works just fine. Cooler was installed the whole time except that one time when I powered it on and turned it off immidieately, but I have this "No Signal" problem for 2 weeks now...so it has nothing to do with CPU. Also, CPU Cooler doesnt start cooling instantly, it takes time to build up, so turning on the PC without cooler for 3 seconds cannot do any harm to the CPU as it is the same process when the CPU Cooler is installed.
Screwdriver is a normal way of turning on your PC when you dont have it connected to a PC Case...I wouldn't do anything that I haven't seen from PC Youtubers who have 5+ mil subscribers.

...I dont see the issue with my methodology? Literally every PC Builder does it.

so presuming it didn't cook and the cpu switched off

There is q leds on the board

so attach the cooler and see if the leds indicate anything.

So don't see why it would be the bios since the previous board worked out of the box in the same configuration. It's not one of those where you have to update the bios before the cpu is compatible? Or you wound up with a board that doesn't yet have the latest bios loaded off the shelf.

https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1044348

*Notice:

1. Updating BIOS may have the risk of not booting up. Please back up your data first before updating the BIOS.

how to flashback the bios

Note: The easiest way to update the BIOS is provided. You do not need to enter the BIOS screen of the motherboard or use the EZFlash software in the operating system to use the hardware functions of the motherboard to update the BIOS.

Use situation: If your Motherboard cannot be turned on or the power light is on but not displayed, you can use the USB BIOS FlashBack™ function.

Requirements Tool: Prepare a USB flash drive with a capacity of 1GB or more. *Requires a single sector USB flash drive in FAT16 / 32 MBR format.

So you would just download the correct bios for your board on to a usb drive insert it into the flashback usb port and press the flashback button

https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1038568

general instructions it says rename the bios file but not exactly what to rename it too

It says it on the download page for the bios

'Before running the USB BIOS Flashback tool, please rename the BIOS file (SZ690AD4.CAP) using BIOSRenamer." '

highlight SZ690AD4.CAP right click and copy

but you don't need to use the BIOS renamer tool. Just rename the file in windows explorer. You select the file and press f2 or hover the cursor over the filename and click once

and type or paste SZ690AD4.CAP to rename the bios file

then copy it to your freshly formatted usb drive put it in the flashback port and press the flashback button

how many panic attacks does it take to flash a bios?

oh and how to troubleshoot using a buzzer. Aka the Speaker. If there is one. Well they used to be in the case though sometimes they are just a speaker on two wires connected to mobo speaker header dongle which is packaged with the board. If you don't have one scrabble around your old junk to find one. The really old ones have a large magnet on them so don't let it near anything that is affected by magnets.

1. Power Light is ON, "One short beep" from speaker but nothing shows on monitor

One short beep from the speaker means the device boots normally. Please confirm the monitor is working and correctly connected to the device.

2. Power Light is ON, "No beep" from speaker

Please check that the CPU and memory are installed correctly and there's no oxidation on the connection parts. If there is any oxidation, please try to wipe the oxidized part with an eraser. If it still cannot be turned on properly, please clean it with contact cleaner and re-install.

3. "One long and two short beeps" from speaker

An anomaly is detected in memory. Please confirm that the memory is correctly installed.
Please refer to the Motherboard manual for related instructions about memory.

4. "One long and three short beeps" from speaker

An anomaly is detected in the graphic card. If the graphic card needs an extra power supply, please ensure the power supply can provide enough wattage.

5. "One long and four short beeps" from speaker

An anomaly is detected on CPU Fan Error or CPU Over Temperature Error or CPU Over Voltage Error

Please ensure your CPU and CPU Fan is installed correctly. If it still fails, please enter BIOS to load default BIOS or clear CMOS to try again

If the above solutions cannot resolve your problem, please contact ASUS Product Support for further assistance and information.

there's a contact asus.

Hum. what I might do in such a situation. It's confusing the way you substituted all the parts one at a time after the power surge.

First completely disassemble the entire pc. Inspect every part. Check the wattage of the psu. Check the compatibility of the memory. Check the cpu socket doesn't have any wonky contacts on the motherboard.

The cpu doesn't have any pins to bend but the contacts in the motherboard socket can be a bit sensitive.

Presuming all the parts are completely new I would have a bit of confidence in their robustness.

If there weren't nothing wrong with the components it should POST.

Then I'd take out the gpu and use a low powered non gaming gpu in it to flashback the bios.

You said you don't know how to flashback the bios.

Prepare a usb drive with the aforementioned instructions. Do not press the power button. Press the Flashback button with the usb inserted in the flashback port.

You have to know how to download and copy the bios file to the usb drive and rename it in explorer.

However I would also be too scared to go near someone else's rig.

And If the flash bios process failed? I'd say eek it didn't work another mobo is bricked and run away if I could.

If the pins in the socket are bad some might say it had been roughly handled. It's really delicate to attempt to coax them back into position without breaking them off entirely.

Failing all, I would probably just buy a completely different brand of motherboard, after checking that it does ship with the most recent bios if to support the cpu if I wasn't sure how to flash a bios and not bother to pay anyone else to try and fix it.

That would mean searching a motherboard, reading the review, checking the memory compatibility, probably make sure it was a one notch more superior motherboard.

Just because the CPU led is on it doesn't necessarily mean that the CPU is bad. The mobo could lack the most recent bios. Or the socket could be dodgy.

What nobody can see is how you inserted the cpu. Most people can just do that gently and carefully and maybe you did but nobody witnessed the moment. Usually it's ok.

Hard to diagnose that a brand new motherboard has a slightly dodgy socket. Taking it to a shop is bad idea. It takes time to simply disassemble the machine which they will have to charge their rate for.

Flashing the bios is scary. It usually works but can occasionally err.

You had a power surge and don't have a surge protector this time around either.

The situation is dubious. What was wrong with the power situation in the first place? You need an electrician to look at your wiring.

Flashing a bios in dubious power conditions is dubious.

You are losing patience with the urgent problem that has to be sorted. I don't like it.
