changed motherboard and bsod!

so last night i changed from a gigabyte z77 board with win7 to an asus board, all hardware is working fine but when i go to boot i blue screen! i have a windows 7 upgrade pack that's been used on the same drive but i assume the code will not work when i type it in a second time!? question is how can i sort this out, i think i have to fresh install but with what i have can i do it? also, if i buy a win8 upgrade disc would that work? thanks and any and all tips help!

Is the asus z77 as well? If so, can you successfully boot in safe mode (no network drivers)? If that works you can try installing the mobo drivers from the asus cd and see if that fixes it.

So in safe mode what should I do after I get into safe mode?

Put in the driver cd that came with the new mobo and run the setup. If it didn't come with a disk, download drivers from the site on another pc.

Get the drivers from the web site anyway, chances are good when you bought the mobo the drivers and BIOS were already outdated - I throw the DVD/CDs away when I get a mobo for a build
