Question Changed my laptop's cpu to 4 cores, BIOS shows only 2 cores.

I have a E6440, I upgraded its CPU from i5-4310M which is a 2 core to i7-4712MQ which is a 4 core ... but in DELL's BIOS under Performance -> Multi Core support, There are only 3 options:

• ALL
• 1
• 2

Is this normal ? Will my laptop use all the 4 cores of my new CPU or will it only use 2 cores ?

I would reset all bios settings to default.
Then see how many cpu cores and threads show up in task manager under the performance tab. Should say 4 cores and 8 logical processors.

it says CPU1 .... CPU8 under Linux...
