Changing BIOS Settings - for Gigabyte GA-X79-UD3 (Intel X79)

I'm trying to enable VT-x but can't get to the BIOS settings.

Apologies for such a noddy question but I've tried DEL at startup and various other keys as well as going into the PC advanced settings- General in WIndows 8 but at a loss.

Appreciate any help.

Try clearing the CMOS (unplug the power cord and use the jumper - check the manual). At restart, the system would wait for F1 and you'd be able to access the BIOS.

Allow me to correct :

DEL key is for the entering in BIOS :

Function Keys:
<TAB>: POST SCREEN
Press the <Tab> key to skip the startup Logo. To turn off the startup Logo, refer to the instructions on the
Full Screen LOGO Show item on page 51.
<DEL>: BIOS SETUP\Q-FLASH
Press the <Delete> key to enter BIOS Setup or to access the Q-Flash utility in BIOS Setup.
<F9>: SYSTEM INFORMATION
Press the <F9> key to display your system information.
<F12>: BOOT MENU
Boot Menu allows you to set the first boot device without entering BIOS Setup. In Boot Menu, use the up
arrow key <h> or the down arrow key <i> to select the first boot device, then press <Enter> to accept.
The system will boot from the device immediately.
Note: The setting in Boot Menu is effective for one time only. After system restart, the device boot order
will still be based on BIOS Setup settings.
<END>: Q-FLASH
Press the <End> key to access the Q-Flash utility directly without having to enter BIOS Setup first

and the VT-d option you seek is under :
BIOS Features > Intel Virtualization Technology & Intel(R) VT-d
Intel Virtualization Technology (Note)
Enables or disables Intel Virtualization Technology. Virtualization enhanced by Intel Virtualization Technology
will allow a platform to run multiple operating systems and applications in independent partitions. With
virtualization, one computer system can function as multiple virtual systems. (Default: Disabled)
Intel(R) VT-d (Note)
Enables or disables Intel Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O. (Default: Disabled)

Thanks Nikolay for such a detailed response and helping me. After persistent "Del-Key" tapping I got to the BIOS and changed the VT setting as required.

I'm now happily running VMWare Player on my PC as I wanted.
