Changing Clips?

Is it possible to change the clip type on an HSF? I just ordered a Glaciator II, and has gotten great reviews, except that it has a crappy clip. Can I change this at all? I know it will be fine just in my computer, but I plan on going to LAN parties and such everynow and then, so it would be uneconomical for me to have to remove it, then have to reapply ASIII or other goop every time too...

it's possible but you have to get the same type of clip (i.e. width and thickness of the straps)

I have used clips with different heatsinks. It is the luck of the draw. I would reccomend transporting the computer with the mainboard parallel to the road. That way when you hit a bump, the HSF isn't tempted to shear off of the socket.

also in your situation, a shim would be a good investment..just to give an extra level of protection to the cpu core.
