so I have a e72 from lenovo with a i5 3470s, and i wonder if i can change it out to a i7 3770?

I have checked the socket and power demand att it is fine. But will the Bios f it up? Lenovo offers a model with the i7 3770 but does it have a diffrent Bios even tho it is the same chipset?

Can I perhaps change the Bios to the one the i7 3770 model ships with?

Thx in advance!

Solution
These two Core i7s are supported on ThinkCentre Edge 72 type 3484

Core i7 3770 77W vPro Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz 8MB 4c LGA GT2
Core i7 3770S 65W Ivy Bridge 3.1GHz 8MB LGA
You could update the BIOS only if your PC model (type) is listed as compatible.
Manufacturers may ship different motherboard versions with the same PC model.
In some cases they might change, as in Lonovo E72, the type. So they could have several E72 but different types to denote changes (e.g E72 type 3484 or E72 type 3492)
Other times they all come with the same motherboard but different CPUs
Do not install a BIOS that is not listed as compatible with your model, it could damage your system.
Which model and type do you have?

What I'd worry about is the 's' designation. That's a lower power demanding CPU. Upgrading to a regular i5 or i7 means the CPU is going to want about 10W more. This isn't guaranteed to be an issue...except in pre-built computers they do sometimes use motherboards with specific capabilities. This could limit upgrade options.

The model i have is 3484
