when changing CPU of Intel what should i keep in mind
how will i know its will require bios update??
1. i know its compatible with it in regards to slot and power
spec
Cpu: i5 650 changing to I7 870 lga 1156
ram 8 gb
psu 320w
hdd 500

I doubt you'll need to do a BIOS update as it looks like the i7-870 is one of the CPU options that was available for that computer.

i mean i have to replace CPU put thermal paste and thats it or are there some more steps

it can help but depend what is your cost.
if you got that cpu out without much problem, then thermal paste is quite cheap (1-5$ depending on your choice)

I recommend you take at least OCZ freeze or higher, then cheapest you can find.
it's meant that this cpu will pump more heat so a bit better cooling will make sure you will get performance, not just hotter PC.

so if you did get that cpu for a very low price it can help (25-35$?).
if you do pay for it more than that it starts to make sense to consider used 3/4'th gen motherboard and i7 cpu combo that tend to go for ~60$ because one of those would bring way more value for the price:
