Changing from SATA 3gb/s to 6gb/s

i just recently got an ssd and on the software it come with it says its connected into a 3gb/s port and i have a free 6gb/s. if i change it to the 6gb/s port will it mess some stuff up or am i safe?

Change it to the other port. It will not mess anything up.

If it doesn't work for whatever reason then you can put it back and it's fine.

It *may* be a separate controller and it may be the case that that controller is disabled currently. If this happens then you need to put it back on the 3Gbps port, boot in, install the driver for that other controller and then move it to the 6Gbps port. If they're all on the same controller then just move it, it's fine.

Just did it then it booted to the windows on my HDD and i went to the BIOS and changed boot devices and everything didnt work. went back to the BIOS and the ssd wasnt there. i fixed it but ssd is still in the 3gb/s port
