I have had a 300GB reliable seagate hard drive for quite a long time, and in a couple of months i was thinking of getting an upgrade but the idea of changing it out and sorting it has always put me off doing it, how would i go about changing fromm 300GB to possibly a 2TB hard drive or an SSD card, other than changing it physically which is easy how would i swap windows over to my new hard drive? i am not that bothered about personal documents as a flash drive can carry that, i do have a windows disk but i am not sure if it will work again with the same prod. key, thanks.

Hey there, SpruceDaMoose.

Well if you have a retail copy of Windows, you should have no trouble doing a fresh install, having in mind you'd have this Windows key used only on this machine. Windows can be reinstalled as many times as you want.
On the other hand if you'd like to clone your drive, you could take a look at this article here: http://lifehacker.com/5837543/how-to-migrate-to-a-solid-state-drive-without-reinstalling-windows
This guide is about migrating to an SSD, but the process with another HDD is pretty similar. Let me know if you have any questions. I'll be glad to help.

Make sure that you backup your important files, before you try out any of those options.

Hope that helps.
