Changing laptop drivers

Hi,
I have a Acer s3.
It has a 500gb hard drive with 20gb cache
I would like to swap it for a 240gb ssd.
My question is:
Can I just copy paste the whole disk to the ssd. (by plugging both into my desktop)
Do I need to buy a windos. ( there is no key on the back)
Any other advice would be appreciated.

You'll either have to use cloning software or do a full reinstallation.
