Changing monitor working shape

Hello,
I think thegoat asked a reasonable question that deserves a reasonable answer, mostly because I have the same question.

I just got a wide screen monitor but I do a lot of photo editing and the photos stretch to fit the monitor and get badly distorted.

Can someone give me some real advice?

Set your video resolution to the native resolution of the monitor.

Example: If you bought a 1920x1080 monitor, set video card output resolution to 1920x1080.
