I am having an asus motherboard. I might to change to Gigabyte motherboard when i can.
My question is: Do i need to do something with bios or idk?
Or i just need to rebuild my PC, Turn it on , and that's it?

Solution
No, every board z or h or b work with all the cpus. Meaning you can take a B85 and a 4790k. Or a z97 and a 4770. The only thing is that with the B and H chipsets you can't overclock the k parts. A 4790k would work fine on a B85 but you won't be able to oc it, it would work in its normal speeds.

If the new motherboard supports all the existing parts then you should be good to go from a hardware standpoint. The thing is that you might have problem with Windows. The activation is usually bound with the motherboard. Meaning that new motherboard usually wants new license. But if you jump through some hoops with MS, they should reactivate them. Why are you changing your motherboard?

1. Have it for 3 years.
2. I will plan for a overclockable cpu, but the motherboard i have rn isn't overclockable.
3. It's very small(Micro ATX), My gtx 960 and liquid cooler barely fits. like one move and everything can get ruined.

Yeah i know. But changing a three year old motherboard with the same type and then maybe upgrade to an overclockable cpu isn't a very solid plan. that is why i am asking. As for the worth it, gaming on pc is making quite the comeback if that is your thing. Many xbox titles would also come on the pc. So from a gaming perspective this is a great time to invest (if you want that is).

Z97 Chipset is ONLY for overclock CPU'S? Or it won't work if it's not a "K" Intel processor?
