Changing phone for verizon

I just got my Dad's old Verizon Galaxy S5, and I'm using a Verizon Galaxy S4. Is it possible for me to just transfer the SIM Card from the S4 to the S5? (Preferably a free method

Yeah, it should work assuming you keep the same carrier. I do it all the time as an employee of target mobile.

Swapping phones like this is always free, even if you need to go to the Verizon store and have them activate something. I've changed my Verizon phone a few times, even when they needed to get a new SIM for my phone it was free.
