So I have these two computers in my internet shop

One with an Emaxx EMX-a55GT-iCafe motherboard
and the other with a Biostar G41D3C motherboard.

the second computer (with Biostar G41d3C) has a 4gb RAM stick and I transferred it to the computer with the Emaxx EMX-a55GT-iCafe motherboard.

What happened next was that, it started to smell like fire. So I had to take it off and now the computer wouldn't turn on now.

What could have caused the problem when both computer have much similar Compatible Ram Speeds/frequencies?

Solution
If the ram from one system was an exact match for the memory fitted to the Emaxx system you should of had no problem installing it.

If you got a burning smell from the Emaxx system the cause more often than not if you found it a struggle to fit the memory and it did not fit into the memory slot flush.

You placed it in the slot the wrong way around and caused the electric current to flow the wrong way around the memory chips of the ram module.

Or that you did place the memory module the right way around in the Emaxx system but did not push it into the memory slot of the motherboard so it was flush.

That would of caused one of the gold fingers on the memory module to touch an a neighboring gold contact withing the memory slot...

That would of caused one of the gold fingers on the memory module to touch an a neighboring gold contact withing the memory slot causing a short circuit, again sending electric current the wrong way around the memory module.

In such cases it goes without saying that the memory module is now dead, and it is highly likely you have done major damage to the Emaxx motherboard also without much doubt, mainly due to experience, 80% of the time it results in damage to the motherboard.

If you have not removed the ram module from the Emaxx board do so, because faulty memory in some cases can be a cause to why a system will not power on or boot.

If you get no results from doing that, then it goes without any doubt at all the ram module is fried, and so is your Emaxx motherboard without any doubt at all sorry to say.

And time to buy a new system, or motherboard and some new Ram.

Oh no.

Wasn't so sure if I placed the Ram correctly but I know that the Ram stick was placed in because it got locked right away.

So if the motherboard was damaged, would it mean the motherboard is dead?
Because when I tried turning it on without any memory in it, I was expecting the system to at least turn on and make beeping sounds but instead it didn't turn on at all.

Can't any part be spared from that damaged? at least the Power Supply, the fan or the Processor?
