Hello everyone,
6 Months ago i gave my laptop to a repair shop to fix the overheating issue. My Laptop wasn't turning on so guys at shop pulled out the HDD and reformated it ( Lost original Windows ) then installed a Pirated one without my acknowleadge ! Luckily i had all my data BACKED up!
They also repaired the I/O board. I have came to know that they had also changed SATA mode from ATA (default) to AHCI and boot time has been terrible since. Oh i got SMART Event too !

So i begin searching for this issue on web and found AHCI is culprit. Now i am wondering maybe ATA will fix this issue ( Read : WDC WD32000EVT-75A23T0 " ATA " Device.) Now the only solution to change AHCI mode to ATA is reinstallation of windows but i don't have any WINDOWS 7 CD .

I ran HD tune pro and found 0 bad sectors ! So i am quite confused now why it is behaving so weirdly.

I tried changing Bits from 0 to 3 in regedit but no luck ! It won't boot ! I am getting BSOD and reboots !!

Please help !

ACHI should not be significantly slower than IDE, but if you want tto go to IDE mode that is your choice.

You can download Win 7 from Microsoft, and create a CD/DVD from the .iso file. You do not need the original medium (the original CD) but you will need your license key.

OH, you mean IDE and ATA is same thing ? Btw i can boot Ubuntu 12.10 fine with ATA mode on whats it wrong with WINDOWS?

Actually i am not interested in re-installing all the stuff by reinstalling windows so i wannna switch to ATA mode (IDE ? ) without re-installation. Is there any way to do it ,no?

You need take out cell battery to clean the CMOS, and try to boot up the laptop.

If you laptop is intel system update all the drivers like chipset, onboard video card driver.

If you like you can reinstall the windows by yourself, following the link. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html
