We have a Dell Poweredge 2900 server with slots of up to 8 SATA or SAS hard drives.
It currently has a RAID1 array using 2 160GB SATA hard drives. I was the one to set this up in recent times, first by cloning a smaller primary SATA drive to the 160GB and then building the array using the Dell Perc 6/i software.
The client would like to change this to a RAID1 array using 2 300GB SAS hard drives.
What is best to do? Can I insert the SAS hard drives in slots 3 and 4 and clone the array over or should I clone SAS to SATA and then build the array using the second SAS drive?
