Changing SSD from one PC to another

Hi everyone, I have my current PC with an SSD and an HDD.

I am planning on getting a new PC soon and I'd really like to avoid all the hassle of reinstalling all software, games, OS etc.

Is it possible to simply get on the new PC and connect both discs there allowing me to keep the same setup I currently have?

If not, what data loss am I looking at here? Will all the data on the SSD be erased and should I reinstall all software of the SSD once it's plugged in to the new PC?

Thanks in advance for the help,
Cheers!

Not any good way. The old OS probably won't like the new hardware.

What I would do is reinstall whatever software you need on the new PC and whatever data files you need I would transfer over via USB stick....unless there are tons....in which case I would install the drive from the old PC into the new PC and work with them that way.

In my case we're looking at TBs of files, lot's of work related content (3D modelling and concept art) plus whatever games I have installed. Any way to still use these as they are installed on the HDD?

When you get the new PC.....install the programs you use....and ONLY the programs (executables) you use.

Then if you want your data files on the new PC EITHER......

Copy them to a USB stick and move them.

Or shutdown and install the drives from the old PC into the new PC and you will have them that way.....but you aren't going to be able to run the programs from the old drives on the new PC because it doesn't work that way.

So best option is to simply install OS and start from scratch in the new SSD and system correct? Would I get any issues if later on I plugged in the old SSD (that had the old OS) on the new PC as well?

"So best option is to simply install OS and start from scratch in the new SSD and system correct?"

Yes. Than install whatever programs you use....like MS Office or games etc....but don't fill up the new drive more than about 80%. Drives can cause problems if they are over 80% full.

No....just don't try to boot the old SSD from the new machine because the old OS won't like the new hardware.

Booting from the old SSD won't happen automatically....you would have to set it to.
