How can I change the default ordering of icons in the Quick Launch (or any other toolbar), on the taskbar?

By default, I think icons appear to order themselves alphabetically. I know you can move them around, etc, but I'm looking for a way to change the default setting. For example, instead of by name, by date, by size, etc. Modifying the order within the folder of a toolbar, isn't reflected on the taskbar.

I assume it may be stored in the registry somewhere?

Thanks for the reply. Seems to be more related to the taskbar though, and not the toolbars within it?

It's the icons in the toolbars that I want to set the order to. It seems impossible though.

Win 10 doesn't have a quick launch section in the taskbar anymore so that way above would be the way to do it. Its possible you do it via a batch file but that is just a guess. I would ask on https://www.tenforums.com/ as someone there will know for sure if you can do it or not.

I expect there is a way to change the default order for new profiles, I expect that is why you want to do it this way and not just edit the order yourself on desktop.

If you get an answer, come back and let me know what it is :)

Well W10 still allows you to create custom toolbars, which is what I've done. Unfortunately ordering the icons is alphabetical by default, so upon reboot, they will always go that way. For now I've just prefixed the odd symbol to the start of the name and gone with the whole alphabetical thing. Not ideal, but it'll suffice until I find a proper solution.

TenForums might be a good idea actually :)

Move all items from Quick launch folder to a temporary folder. Then move one by one back to the original Quick launch folder in the desired order. The order remains the same after reboot.
