Changing the grub file post install?

Hey Everyone. I was putting some different linux distributions onto a external hard drive. These include ubuntu 12.10 fedora 17 and pc linux but the grub only boots to pclinux why? and can I alter the grub file to fix it and if anyone knows the code putting it i a comment it would help.
